Today marked the beginning of my volunteer experience with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Gamboa, Panamá, which feels like the true beginning of my year-long fellowship funded by the Watson Foundation. I am always excited to meet people as passionate about amphibians as I am, so I was overjoyed to meet and obviously very impressed by the team who have dedicated themselves to el Proyecto de Rescate y Conservación de Anfibios de Panamá, to say the least. I saw many new species for the first time today and am looking forward to getting to know the ropes a bit better over the coming month.
